Just came back from the latest home game…it sucked…mostly…but I don’t want to write about that now…

I just wanted to wish all my readers happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or (insert your name for the holiday, if you celebrate it, here)  πŸ™‚
Merry Christmas

That was quick

Received a mail from PSO this, telling me that my account with bodog was confirmed (“Thank you for signing up for online poker through Poker Source Online. Your account has been confirmed and your order is being sent to our fulfillment department”….”If you selected PSO points as your free item, your points will be posted within 3 business days.”). Groovy…and now I login to find that the points have been already credited to my account. W00t!

That was a really great experience with an easy promotion to go along with it (clear it just over a week playing at the loooow levels). Thumbs up PSO!

Well, got to 200 points with 3 more SnGs, so now I’m done. Now I’ll just have to wait till the PokerSourceOnline points roll in (if you don’t have an account yet, feel free to use referral code: Ingoal). This was one of the easiest promotions I’ve done yet, the easiest since the Mansion promotion at PokerSavvy.

I think I’ll get myself some nice Amazon gift certificates for the points and buy either some poker dvds (WPT) or poker books, gotta check my own wishlist. Now I gotta check for a new promotion  πŸ™‚

Follow-up on the first forpeyton.com auctions

As I mentioned in one of my prior post, there were quite some amazing things up for auction at ebay. The crown jewel of this first set of auctions was, at least IMHO, the Phil Gordon package including not only a signed copy of his “Little Green Book”, a signed copy of his DVD “Final table poker” and a signed photograph, but also an one hour phone lesson. Wow! Although I was eager to get my hands on this one, but in the end it was a little over my price range (the winning bid was 321.27$) – still one heck of a steal at this price!

So while I bid in numerous of the other auctions (including the signed photograph by Isabelle “No Mercy” Mercier and Mark Seif’s Jersey) I set my sights on my second favourite item, which would be Daniel Negreanu’s package including a signed T-Shirt, a signed hat and a signed photograph – so basically a three in one deal. I went ahead and put a bid in and to my surprise my “early bluff at the pot” resulted in all of “my opponents’ ” folding.

Daniel Negreanu Package

So I take it down. Nice. Now the only thing between me and the package is finding the best way to ship it to me (to Germany) without it costing a fortune, but I’m sure that Shelly Hokanson and/or Bob Nardi will sort that out for me. I’m so excited that I’m able to help this good cause and receive such great stuff in return, which makes it even more exciting.

I want to take the opportunity to point your attention to the ForPeyton homepage once again and especially to the auctions page as there’s a good chance that there will be more exciting things up for auction in the (near) future! There’s also the ongoing possibility to simply donate some money to the cause, see the donations page for further information.

Furthermore I would like to spread some link love to all the pros who were generous enough to devote time and/or donate things and/or money to this good cause (in no particular order):

Shameless plug – Text-Link-Ads.com

Well, what can I say…you might have noticed the new category “Site Supporters” in the left hand navigation column. Yes, I started to sell some text links, as they’re a good way to get some money without overcluttering your website. Shameless plug? – Yup, I want to tell you about how I’m selling text links: I’m using Text-Link-Ads.com (aff). You just signup, thanks for using my referral πŸ˜‰ , and add your site for review. Usually it’s accepted almost instantly and you can start to sell links. They handle everything: advertising (you can be found in their site directory), selling and billing…all you need to do is implement the ad script (they provide different APIs from WordPress Plugin to PHP so it’s easy to set it up) and wait for the first emails about a successfull sale to come in – it didn’t take more than 2 days till the first links were sold here on poker-tastic.com and I’m really happy so far. They take their fair share of all sales (50% of the link prices), which is alrighty with me as they take on all the work of selling and handling. So..if you ever thought about getting some extra dough…try text-link-ads! If you want a rough idea about how much you could possibly make…use their calculator to get an estimation…you might be surprised what you could make pretty much without any extra effort…I sure was πŸ™‚

Once again, a referraled pic for you…

Offline frustration and online goodness (mostly)
Monday May 29th 2006, 2:00 am
Filed under: Full Tilt Poker,MTT,No-Limit Hold'em,PokerStars,S&G,Tournaments,Uncategorized

The offline frustration today is totally unrelated to poker: my footie team had the chance to win the championship this year, but we were at the mercy of our opponents as we didn’t have a match today, but they did (we had already played our final match last thursday)…the scenario was clear: the lose, we’re the champions, the draw or win and they’re the champions…what happened? They played 3-3 and are the champions…which leaves a bitter taste in our mouths…

  1. Our Opponent – Games played: 24, 17W, 5D, 2L, 74:21 goals – 56 Points
  2. We – Games played: 24, 17W, 5D, 2L, 74:24 goals – 56 Points

πŸ™

So they go up to the next higher league and we have to play two matches, which we need to win to go up, too. First an eliminator against another league on the same level (Kreisliga B), then against the team from the higher league (Kreisliga A) which is next to last in that league. Matches scheduled for tuesday and saturday…wish us luck…

After that frustration I fired up PokerStars and entered the 3$ rebuy to the $1.000.000…no joy, so I close Stars and head over to FullTilt. First SnG, first win. Second SnG, 3rd place. Third SnG 6th place – end of the ITM series. So I step up a level and try my luck…and I win! The decisive hand was a min raise of my opponent heads up…I look down at A2 and I’ll take a flop with that…flop comes A22…hehe…he doubles me up with his AK and I’m in control. The end comes in the next hand…nice! I’m starting to get tired, so I head down a level again to play a final SnG…we’re down to 4 handed and I’m a slight chipleader (44xx to 43xx to 2.x k to 2.x k) one of the smaller stacks raises to 4xBB…the other “big stack” calls…I push to 2k…he ponders and ponders….calls…flop comes 7-3-9 rainbow…he checks…I push….he goes into the tank for a little eternity and calls…he shows Kc7c…it holds up and I’m crippled…I congratulate him on his nice play…after all they were s00ted…so why complain…before I go into the chat and blog rant mode I log off and remind myself of one thing: if you play at the donkey levels it’s inevitable…there will be donkeys making bad decisions and hitting, so move along… πŸ˜‰

Bad bad bad!

As you might have noticed poker-tastic was down most of the day, along with most of my other sites…not a good idea to do a “quick” kernel update with little time on your hands… πŸ™

At least all the major sites are back up again…still some work today and it’s already 4am…so I’ll probably call it a day/night soonish…without a single hand of poker played πŸ™

Donkey is what donkey does
Sunday April 23rd 2006, 11:49 pm
Filed under: Full Tilt Poker,No-Limit Hold'em,S&G,Uncategorized

After the long poker evening yesterday I didn’t feel like playing a lot of poker today, so only two SnGs…both of them donkey, one 1$ one 5$ though. Busted out of the 1$ pretty quickly, so all the hopes were with the second one. After a long drag we’re down to four handed and the donkey on my left keeps getting lucky against me…I’m the short stack, then I double up from the donk…next hand I’m the SB, he’s the BB…I look down at 33…I decide to push as 1.) he can’t have good cards all the time 2.) it’s probably a race at best for him…then FullTilt is nice enough to propel J7s to victory when the river double pairs the board…damn you donkey…there, I said it…damn you, donkey! You might be 15 bucks richer now that you sucked out on the two other players, too (e.g. K7 vs KQ – 7 on the river), but you’re still a donkey. Preach! πŸ˜‰
Hand of the day, presented by lucky donkshit dastard (TM) and the catch-phrases “But they were s0000ted!” and “At least I had outs…”[which is true in this case, he had many post-flop]:

As some of you might know, there’s the FIFA World Cup in Germany – yes that’s football (or soccer to the americans). 50 days to go, so it’s time to get excited, especially due to the fact that my tickets arrived today…I’m going to the World Cup…right in front of my door (Stuttgart)…
