Treading water
Not much time for poker today, just played three PLO8 SnGs…two at the lower level and one at my usual level, yes, I was still a little freaked out about the horror session, that’s why I started a level lower. I won the first two and felt really comfortable, so I moved up. I lost that match. Pretty sick too…it was up and down up and down until he quartered me twice, once when a case card hit and once where I thought I had the lock on the low…but guess what…just because you hold 334x on a A27XX board doesn’t mean that headsup these days…sure enough he has A734…so sick…but oh well…finished the session exactly even…better than a big phat L.
In other news, I took the time today to watch a little WCOOP Event #5 final table action as three german players where on it. In the end it came down to a guy from denmark and fellow german Sebastian “luckbox” Ruthenberg (who finished third in the EPT Dortmund last year)…the whole headsup match was really sick. Luckbox had him all-in on four to five different occasions (twice with the best of it)…and the guy just wouldn’t bust…in the end the table was turned and all too fittingly it all came down to a flip…33 vs KhQh…flop 3xx with two hearts…after all it’s never easy…no heart though and luckbox takes second place after playing OVER 20h…that’s pretty sick right there…
I’m out…
PokerStars reload bonus == kill switch on
In all honesty, I have never ever seen a session like the one today. NEVER. This is ridiculous. How can I have ppl all in drawing to one-six outs thrice and lose all of those pots? How can I have twenty outs+ twice and still lose to a two-outer, twice (Top two pair + good low draw + straight and flush draw; just to see my opponent hitting a two outer J/7 to make trips over my two pair with no low). Are you fucking kidding me? God damn it. I’ve never been so tilted…so I guess I better logout now before I break my laptop and uninstall PokerStars…so sick…
Take the pic above…the dude is running “super hot” (courtesy of sharkscope) and I felt it. First I get him down to 450 as he’s chasing longshots all the time. Then I double him up on a cooler (Q-high flush vs K-high flush), then we get it in again as I draw to twenty outs…I miss twice…surprise…he’s slightly ahead…this time we get it in on the turn…he’s drawing to one deuce, three treys and two fours…so the whole six outs again (or add one six, four sevens and eights and four aces for half the pot) and yes he hit the good old one-outer quads…why can’t a god damn 9-K come up there and I scoop…so sick…I’m out before I break something…
Edit: Chasing losses is fun…ran into one of the most annoying ppl on PokerStars ever. He sits down at my HU razz table and he clearly plays in over his head. He plays the whooping amount of 3 SnGs and is taking the full time on EVERY decision. I get slightly annoyed and tell him to stop wasting ppl’s time, if he can’t handle three tables he should stick to two or one…what a moron. But guess what, he coolers me in two consecutive big pots (he’s behind till sixth street, catches the miracle on seventh, surprise surprise). After that one I almost exploded, took a little stroll and went back to the table and knocked down some donks. 2/2 in PLO8 and 3/4 in NL HE. At least I got some of the money back…but still down for the night….oh well…I’ll take it…insane how unlucky you can get in the short run…but oh well…back soon, hopefully with a better run…
WCOOP here I come…or not…
Well, well…just a little poker session again…two PLO8 matches, 1W 1L. After that I was pretty bored and saw that there were DS satellites for tomorrow’s WCOOP event #1. 8,8$ a pop with 36 players, first get’s the ticket, 2nd to 4th get 20$, 5th 13$…good deal, let’s get it on.
The first table was easy…always nice to hold a cooler early on and have someone push into the nuts. I held AA on the button…LP pops it…I repop him, he pushes…I call…he shows KK…rockets hold up. Nice. A few orbits later a really loose push-happy donks raises 5BB preflop…I look down at the s00ted K8 in the bb and decide to call…if I flop gin I have all his chips, if not I fold and lost 150 chips. Flop comes down three diamonds…gin…I lead out and he does as expected…push…insta-call…he’s drawing dead…cya….I bust another player and then my headsup opponent when my JJ holds up…
I waited for the final table to start and once it did I made sure I chilled out until the first one busted. I still picked up a nice pot early on with a little flush over flush hand…and once the first player busted I sat pretty, second in chips. Once we were down to three-handed I made my first mistake pushing TP into an overpair (KK)…I sucked out on the river…new chipleader: me. I busted the third player and we were headsup. My opponent wins a few hands and he’s the chipleader. Grrrr….I make the next mistake by pushing K3 into K9…d00minated…3 on the flop and I’m monster-chipleader again. Ouch….that was the same player with the Kings cracked on the river. I double him up again. I’m still in the lead and when I look down at presto…I decide to pop it and call his push…presto gold and I’m the winner…
As I can’t play in the event tomorrow I unregistered…
Uuuuuuuh W$…not good…I could use them to buyin into one of the WCOOP events I intended to play (e.g. Razz), but then again…who knows if I’ll be able to play…so no use having them sit around in my account (too bad it wasn’t T$ then I would have used them to play SnGs again)…so I look around for a place to sell the W$ and the best spot I found was the pokernews exchange…and all I can say is: praise, the transaction took under 5 minutes and I’ve got the money (89% = 191,35$) in my account.
So…all in all a wonderful session for me and a nightmare for my headsup opponent…no chance in hell is what he had…and I know that it wasn’t because of my flawless play, but because I got lucky in two big hands (76o vs KK, K3 vs K9), which means he got unlucky as hell…oh well…I’ll take it (and whine like crazy the next time shit like this happens to me) 😉
…in other news: spent another 500FPP for a black PokerStars shirt…now I can switch between my PPA, FullTilt and PokerStars shirts for my live appearances…wheeeeeee….
Same ol’ same ol’ and bad news
Just a little session tonight again…PLO8…won 5 out of 7…NL Hold’em 1 of 2…PLO 0 of 1…so overall a good session…favourite hand of the night…runner runner quads against me…loved the turn…hated the river…
…off to the bad news: I forgot that we have our first booth party of the season (my footie/soccer team parties like there is no tomorrow in the dressing rooms of our club house)…so I guess I will be hammered by the time the Rebuy Donkfest (TM) is about to start, so I might not be able to go for the three-peat after all….pause for celebration of my esteemed opponents 😉 ….oh well…maybe I’ll make it back in time to play it in drunken donkpush-tastic mode…we’ll see…
Still little time for poker…
…so nothing spectacular to report…played three PLO8 headsup matches and won two of them. One loss and one win were against the same player who was really entertaining. We all know that Omaha is a game of draws and Omaha8 is even more so. So we get the money in on some sick flops and I’m ahead (percentage-wise) in four out of five…sure enough I lose all five and hence the match. I come back to the next match and there he is waiting again for me. Same thing happens, but this time my (monster draw) hands get there against his TP and whatnot and he goes off about how lucky I am and what a donk I am…lol…I haven’t laughed this hard in a while…pure genius…
Alrighty…I’m out of here…don’t expect any major posts until friday when I’ll try to go for the KORD (TM) three-peat…if you don’t know what I’m talking about just scroll down a little and make sure you get online 9pm ET on friday…Kat’s rebuy madness is on FullTilt with a 1+1$ buyin with unlimited (1$) rebuys for the first hour…join in, let your aggression-monkey and -donkey out, you won’t regret it!
Not much time for poker…
Didn’t play a single hand all weekend…just chillin…not much poker today either…only one PLO8 HU SnG, one W and I’m out…can’t wait to see the next episode of High Stakes Poker…hopefully I’ll get my hands on it tomorrow 🙂
Cooler nation
Today was one of the uglier sessions, not results-wise as I was wise enough to quit after just four matches, but in the overall “coolness” of the matches. I played PLO8, PL5CD and one NL HE HU match and the theme was the same in all matches.
PLO8: Start with A2xx…flop A2Q…turn A…river 10…most of the money is in by now…opponent holds AQxx…etc etc
PL5CD: Start with two pair…opponent starts with two pair…opponent hits boat…start with set…opponent starts with flush draw…opponent hits…
NL HE: Dismantle opponent, pick up bluffs, etc etc, then watch cooler after cooler…two outer on the river (T8o vs 55…flop 8xx turn x…river 5)…two outer on the river (62o vs A7…flop 667..turn x…river 7) …etc etc…
Fugly…but oh well…at least I didn’t let it tilt me…right back at ‘cha soon…
KORD
King of Rebuy Donks (TM) is my official title for the night. After a brutal session of PLO(8) at Stars, where boat over boat and stuff was the norm, I played Kat‘s rebuy madness tonight, after missing it last week for the first time in ages. After nothing much going on early, I was able to chip up in the middle stages and just when I thought I was golden, I got kicked in the junk. I hold TT on the button and I’ve folded hand after hand after hand. It’s IG’s BB and I pop it, she repops and I insta-push. Now, I see that not all players might pay attention to “small details” at all times, but how can you instacall with 77 there. Now, I usually don’t comment on people’s play like that, but that hand really put me down. Alright, 77, a pair, but even if I was making a move with two face cards or something, you’re probably only on a flip. But oh well, 7 on the flop and I’m down to 4k.
I push a few hands later with KQ and get called by K8…my hand holds up. A few hands later I push again with TT and get called again…Jx…Jack on the flop and I’m ready to pack it up for the night, but no…runner runner straight….wheeeeee. At that point fluxer was the overwhelming chipleader, while the other four (including me) were fighting over the remaining chips. He really put on a clinic on how to play big stack poker. I went on a little rush and knocked out player after player after player and once we were down to headsup I was slightly less than a 4:1 chip-dog. That all changed once the first cooler came down (TP for fluxer….trips for me on a paired board). I gave the chips back a few hands later with the same thing (me TP…trips for fluxer)…then the crucial hand came down…JJ vs KQs…I flop the set and it holds up and I’m 4:1. Way to go…I won it a few hands later and reclaimed my seat a top the donkey rebuy world. Sweet….big shout out to fluxer who really deserved to win and he probably would have if the flip had gone the other way…but that’s the way it goes…let me just do a random pic dump before I finally go to sleep…make sure you scroll a little as the hands are pretty sick…especially the one with a flopped royal flush, got any percentages for that?!
Serenity
Well, what can I say, I’m currently in a good place when it comes to poker. Why? Because I’m sticking to skinning the low-limit PLO8 donkeys and it’s working out pretty nicely. Always nice to see someone think his overpair no low draw is good…yeah right, that’s why I’m repopping you like crazy son. *lol*
So, what’s the difference between the normal NL Hold’em donk and the normal PLO8 donk? Well, first of all most of the PLO8-donks are Hold’em players (or really bad PLO8 players). Secondly, even if they grasp the concept of PLO8 they’re usually so impatient and all too curious. That being said: I try to play small-ball preflop and once I hit gin (or a monster-draw) I control the pot so that I can cripple the fish once the board is layed out. It usually works nicely and even if it doesn’t, I’m really calm about it…after all you can’t win ’em all…
On that note…to show you the difference between my (low limit HU) NL HE mindset and my (low limit HU) PLO8 mindset: if someone hits a 6-8 outer against me in NL HE, I’m mad…if someone hits a 1 outer on me in PLO8…I laugh and play on…(just happened tonight…I had him drawing to one out and the case 4 comes out on the river to give him quads…I laughed and rebuild my stack before busting him)…
I think I found my spot for now…tonight’s stats: 13 matches, 9Ws…alrighty 🙂
Sometimes even a royal flush can’t save you
Played another beautiful session of HU PLO8 tonight and boy was I on fire. My spidey-sense worked beautifully and my opponents’ was missing, at least mostly.
I played 10 HU matches and won 8 of them.
Favourite opponent’s hand – a flopped royal flush:

I swear as soon as the flop came down my spidey-sense told me: “He’s got the royal flush!”…but he made it cheap, so I call him down to see it. Beautiful. I won the match 😉
My favourite hand of the night – forgot to make a screenshot and/or grab the hand history…so just a wrap-up:
I hold Ac2cxx…I raise from the button…he calls…flop comes down 4c-5h-4s…bet…raise…call…turn 5c…hmmm…this is getting interesting…he leads out with a small bet and I call….river the most beautiful 3c I’ve ever seen…he leads out and I pop it….he calls…I show my club wheel of steel and scoop it and he’s crippled…I guess he had a boat or quads there…although I can’t understand why he wouldn’t jam with quads on the turn…oh well…good for me…
