Can screenwriters please come up with a new poker theme
…as I’m really tired of this one.
Warning, Spoiler Alert
If you’re planning on seeing the new poker movie Deal, please don’t read any further!!!
Also if you haven’t seen All-In or Lucky You, the same warning applies!!!
You’ve been warned…
Warning, Spoiler Alert
I watched the movie and as with any poker movie so far, I’ve been looking forward to seeing it. In the end, I couldn’t help but be disappointed – yet again. How come that ever poker movie that’s coming out sticks to the same bs ending? Someone laying down the best hand to let someone else win…
Example#1: All-in: Father folds straight flush and let’s daughter win, duh!
Example#2: Lucky You: Son let’s father win as he fold Aces to his Kings, duh!
…and now in Deal…young prodigy lays down Aces vs Jacks of his “mentor” on the A33xx board, duh! And while we’re at it, since when does the WPT championship pay more than 8 million for first along with a bracelet? Am I missing something here?
Come on people, what is this? The re-run of the re-run of the re-run? Besides, those hands and one person mucking the best hand is total bullshit. There, I said it…end rant.
No wonder PokerStars rules all around…
Remember that I made a purchase in the PokerStars FPP Store not long ago? Underpromise and overachieve is the motto…promise delivery time of 6-8 weeks…deliver in under two weeks (order arrived this tuesday) with Online Order Tracking and the whole shebang…thanks PokerStars…you rock 🙂
High Stakes Poker 4
Just one more week and it’s going to be High Stakes Poker time again. Season 4 will kick off next monday, 9PM on GSN, and I gotta say, I’m really looking forward to it.
Browsing through the player lineup, I came across the following pic:
Phil “Best Hold’em player in the world” aka “Cash game donkey” Hellmuth Jr. is making a return and look at his promo shot for his player profile, totally hawesome!
Time to make a purchase…
Totally forgot: I fired up the PokerStars FPP Store tonight…after all I have racked up some FPPs since I redeposited…I “bought” Bill Chen’s book “The Mathematics of Poker”…6-8 weeks delivery time isn’t so groovy, but I was really looking forward to this book…next stop baseball jersey…although I hope they get a hockey jersey in the near future…after all Daniel Negreanu is with them now…so about time they would think about that?!!!

Shout-outs
Not much poker playing today, just the usual bit of headsup. Played 7 matches and managed to win 4 of them, should have been 6, but hey, I can’t do much more than put my money in way ahead. The most beautiful match was against a real aggressive oberbetting donk. I let him run me over, time and time again, then when it was time to get payed off big time he sucked out on me on the river. His advice 2 sec after the suckout: Dude, buy a book, you’re awful. *lol* *lol* *lol* I didn’t even get into arguing with this donk, because it would be a total waste of my time, I just told him “ah, we have another gracious suckout winner. gg enjoy”. So beautiful how some donks behave on the faceless interweb, so beautiful.
But enough of the online poker chatter…it’s time for some shout-outs:
1. The first shout-out goes out to BuddyDank. I stumbled upon your “poker radio” and I really enjoyed the mix so far when I’m playing. Cool stuff there, keep it up…especially dropping the f-bomb while giving updates on blogger tourneys in progress (e.g. yesterday’s rebuy donkfest….m’fuckin breaktime…m’fuckin be right back….m’fuckin final-table….just beautiful to hear some good old swearing in the a.m. 😉 ).
2. The second shout-out goes out to Dr. Pauly. I respect him a lot, not only because he’s one of if not the best poker blogger around, but because he “introduced” me to the whole blogger tourney thing, back when he held his series at PokerStars. After today, my respect has risen to a whole new level though:

As we all know, most computers are running some version of windows these days, but what about those who don’t? Are you running linux or Apple’s MAC OS? Then CompatiblePoker.com is for you.
You can find out about poker rooms offering native version of their poker client, as well as about poker rooms offering webbased versions – including Java based clients – for both MAC and linux.
While most people prefer native clients, the reality for MAC and linux users is that most poker rooms still don’t offer one. So what are they supposed to do? Either play at one of the few rooms that offer native clients (Mac: Full Tilt, PartyPoker) or use one of the java or webbased alternatives. But is that really all you can do? Not really. There’s always the possibility to use a dualboot system or a run time environment (e.g. WINE) to run the native windows versions. Both possibilities are outlined on the site, although the “Option 2”, as they call it, running poker clients with WINE is all little more in depth than “Option 3 – Dual Boot”, which is only mentioned – I guess that’s understandable as it’s too hard to give a complete guide on how to do it with all possible combinations of windows versions and linux distributions.
All in all, a good guide for all linux/mac users looking for a place to play online poker…and even if you’re not using a linux or mac based system, let’s say you want to know which sites still accept US players, then you’re in the right place, too…just checkout the USA Poker Sites section…so, what are you waiting for, checkout CompatiblePoker.com!
Chasing the bonus…
…I didn’t really need any more money in PokerStars, but hey, I’m greedy, so how can I pass the opportunity to get one of the (rare) PokerStars reload bonuses?! (Read more about it here – you’ve got until May 22nd to get your money in)
So…with the bankroll at an all-time high, lol, I decided to play some donk HU…won 5 of 5. After that I jumped into the higher level again and played a six handed SnG, bubble boy. Then a HU…freezing to death…card that gives me the nutflush gives him the boat, etc etc…so…I’m done for the day…slightly up (less than a buck)…but I don’t complain…only 728FPP to get my free 50 bucks…wheeeeeeeeeeee….
Go shorty, it’s your birthday
So…it’s past midnight over here, so it’s Tuesday, April 17th 2007…it’s my birthday…
That being said, don’t expect to see me at the WWdN or any other poker table for that matter…I’ll be off having a drink or two…
My birthday present to myself, pure hammer goodness…
Priceless
Watching poker on german television today (Poker Superstars III) one hand headsup was Cindy Violette holding the hammer…nothing unusual there…although I almost fell out of my chair as the german commentator said (roughly translated) “Well, she’s almost commited here, but her hand, 72o, also known as the hammer, well…she probably better fold it”…rofl…the hammer is spreading, world wide 🙂
Priceless #2 + #3: Mad Genius Mike Caro vs Doyle Brunson headsup videos…
see here and here…I loved the way Dolly was a total card-rack in the first one and I like the way the mad genius was soooo exited about his 6h4h in the second one promptly sucking out on Dolly’s Ak…lol…genius!
Priceless #4: Poker Bears…lol…
