Junk kick version 2009

Well what can I say…poker playing times have been sparse these days and when I played a few matches I really felt like playing. Felt is the right word…in the other sense…as I was down to it more often than not. I won’t lie about making the occasional bad play here and there, steamed up or not, but the last few months have been brutal. I already dusted off 40% of my roll in 2009 and the junk kicks don’t seem to stop. I just can’t put a winning session in the books anymore. Oh well, I guess you gotta take the bad with the good…so I leave you with three of the beautiful hands of the night and catch some good good sleep…as I won’t lose any over this bs…

These days it doesn’t take much for me to become totally tilted…I think I really should take a break, like I already said on twitter. I acted against my own advise and played some today and it didn’t take long to get tilted again. First I got tilted in NL HE as a calling station dumbsack couldn’t do much wrong, hitting miracles left and right. I threw away the next match. Then I switched gears and played an Omaha MTT. The ultimate tilter. I held my ground and was among the chipleaders for most of the way. Then a hand came down were I flopped the nuts and lost (the main pot, but won the sidepot). If I win that pot I’ve got 7-8x the current average. Instead I lose the mainpot, but I’m still in the top 10. The break comes up. A few hands after the break I’m out on a total tilt move – after losing 2 small pots in a row I push my stack in with air and obv get called…I’m still wondering what made me go over the edge on that one…I guess it was the sum of all the bad hands before that, I just couldn’t take it anymore…but what do you expect in an 8$ four card bingo MTT? Nevermind raising big coming in, you’ll get called anyway. Get to see a lot of flops cheaply, flop the nuts and get payed off – unless you get unlucky. Easy…if you got the patience and can keep a cool head. Both of the latter ran out on me after slightly over an hour. Sick. Oh well, I can’t beat myself up too much about it…and this time I’m sticking to my own advise. I won’t play another hand over the weekend. De-tilt 101. I’m outta here…

Weekend pokher action

Had some fun on PokerStars over the weekend, nothing major going on…some headsup matches, some double or nothing turbo SnGs…did well for the most part. Apart from that we had another home game on saturday – yesterday. It was pretty entertaining, twelve donks saddled up and we were off an running. I didn’t take extensive notes, but there were some nice hands going around all evening. One player flopped a set of kings twice, another flopped quads twice, I flopped a set of aces once and got payed off. To make a long story short after a looong time of play we were down to the bubble…it burst and we were in the money (3 handed). I took out the only remaining female player who had been torturing me all night with some nice runner runner action, etc…and we were headsup (we pay out 50% / 30% / 20%), so at least second place money was set, which equals quadrupling your buyin.

Headsup was pretty quick, three hands and it was all over…I lost. Rewind. First hand, my opponent goes all-in on the button. I fold. Next hand, I go all-in, he folds. Third hand I’m on the button and my opponent announces all-in preflop, well, it’s my turn…hmm…but I wanted to push anyway with my QJ s00ted. So alright. He shows down 89 s00ted. Board comes 8TJQ8 and I’m busto…oh well…it was fun…alrighty…I’m outta here to watch some premier league III action…enjoy the pic dump and gl at the tables…

Can you believe that it’s been three years since Poker-tastic.com saw the light of day? Wow…and I almost missed this blog-birthday too, just had a look at my spreadsheet (one of the “tools” I use to keep track of my poker scores) and thought “hmm…november…hmm…is there something I’m missing?!?”…and sure enough…3 years baby! Here’s to the next years of poker (misery / joy / stories / books / dvds / shows / …)… 🙂

You are the devil – say whaaa?

Because everyone else is doing it…

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild – or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

I know short “I’m still alive”-posts are lame, but here’s another one. Was able to squeeze in some matches during the long evenings in cologne. Nothing spectacular, win some lose some. Since then no action, too busy travelling to/from munich and regular work…poker is def on the backburner these days for me…at least playing wise…

Poker oh poker it’s all skill

….start with the worst hand and go all-in. 😆

I’m back biotches, even if it’s just for a quick rant. Played the first poker in a week and started off nicely. Won my first two HU SnGs and then it went south….waaaaay south…like below the equator south. I mean, it was just brutal and after a few crushing defeats I was not 100% on my game anymore. I guess I payed off a little too much, but honestly, how can it be that my opponent has got the me crushed post-flop all the time while he’s waaaay behind preflop (examples: would be T8o against my QQ (the first and only time I got action on any big hand) sure enough the flop is ten high, sure enough we get it in…sure enough he has trips when all is said and done, or the good ole turned gutshot straight calling the preflop raise and the big flop bet with the gutterball only, etc etc). In the end I couldn’t take it anymore so I logged off with a bad taste in my mouth.

I guess real poker content, filled with screenshots, will have to wait a few days…I’m off to cologne and then munich on business trips…so it could be a while…until then gl at the tables and remember: the worst-tilter isn’t the cold-deck, it’s your reaction to it…
