Happy new year…
…the first post of 2013 and it’s already late in february. Sick sick sick. I’ve had a lot of stress lately, but still managed to play every now and then. I could add a monster pic dump…but today I just felt like coming back with a good ole whine post.
Today was so brutal and sick, that I really have to write something about it. When you play fast fold poker, you get to see a lot of hands….and if you run bad, that happens in quicker succession as well. Good if you’re on rush, that happens quicker also, but I’ve been missing the good part. Today was all about getting stacked by donks. I mean honestly. If you get 3bet pre, reraise on the flop, get bet huge on the turn and really call all-in with a naked draw, is that a good play? Of course not. Will you hit your draw? Most certainly…with a monster like J5 s00000ted runner runnering me (turn + river)…so sick.
Or the other fools who just love to give me their money but get busted out by the fucking dealer. Really? You 4bet shoved nines pre? Nice play sir…2 outer boom. Rebuy…Really? You shove on the flop with all overs after getting 3bet pre with 77, well done sir, I have queens…oh there’s the seven…rebuy…Hello sir, thank you for calling my 3bet pre and reraise on the flop with deuces…do I have to mention that that’s all overcards on the flop? Oh, there’s a deuce on the turn…my kings seem to be out of luck here….rebuy…
And it just went on and on…puke, vomit, hurl…I’m outta here, to wash the pukey feeling out of my mouth…cya peeps…
…don’t call it a comeback
…I’ve been here for years, etc etc 😉
After poker has been kicking me in the junk over at both PokerStars and FullTilt – the latter kicking me in the junk rush style, quick and all the more painful – i had decided that I needed a break from poker.
Indeed I did take a break (June – August), time to reflect, figure out if I really wanted to continue this “hobby” at all. Sure enough, as you can see in this post, I came to the conclusion that, indeed, I wanted to continue, despite all the (small) highs and (big) lows.
This time I decided to go another route though. Bye bye Full Tilt, bye bye Stars, let’s see what else is out there. In the end I came across an interesting offer over at pokersavvy. A rakeback deal for cake poker, handing me back 33% of the rake. Cake, a site where traffic is not all that high (I’ve yet to see more than 5k ppl at any given time I played), but also a site without the PT3-HUD, etc.
All in all, I’m please with the results so far. Results? Why should they even matter? Well, because even if you don’t play “results oriented”, you gotta have some results or you’ll be busto. So far, I’ve managed to find my rhythm again, posting more winning than losing sessions, running “good” for once, etc. So I’m currently in my zone (NL20, 10$ SnGs, etc), where I enjoy the game and play every now and then – no pressure.
That’s all for now, now to the major pic dump. Part #1 is the “worst of” since my last post and (for now) the final chapter in FTP/Stars rants. Part #2 is for the new chapter “cake” so far (end of August until now). Enjoy…

Part #2:
Not a good start
After today’s reload I tried to get back right into the thick of things, but I couldn’t get much going early on. In the end I was able to recoup a little bit, but I finished the day down nontheless. Not too excited about it, but not much I could have done, I made two clearly bad plays that cost me two matches, but in the other ones…no chance. Anyway, I’m happy with the way I played.
Before I leave you with the usualy pic dump, let me introduce my newest idea: a while back I invested a little money and bought me both TourneyManager and PokerTracker3…around the “christmas break” I thought it was time that I put them to use, especially PT3. So I got myself all the tournament summaries and what-not and started to analyze a little. Now I know which are my most profitable games (in terms of net won) and I think I’ll keep hitting them hard. Now to my idea: with all the lovely analytical functions and stuff of PT3, one thing stands out in terms of blogging (IMHO)…and that is a simple graph displaying a few infos about a usual day at “the office”…so I’ll try to add one of those to my posts in the future…enjoy.
Reload
So…I didn’t take me long to reload…PokerStars’ 25% reload bonus (bonus code 2010) was just too appealing. Still on a short bankroll, so I’ll try to play it smart, starting low…running it up, if I can, before jumping into higher limits again…let’s see how it goes…watch this spot…
NL kicking my ass…
…it’s hard to show a profit when you:
1. Can’t win a flip
2. Can’t win an uneven flip either (no matter if you’re 60/40 or 40/60)
…especially if you’re playing turbo SnGs where you’re force to play soon enough…
That being said, I’m done for the year with NL Hold’em…fed up, done and almost busto. Time to regroup. To do that I decided – if I play at all – I’ll play some limit games that most ppl aren’t all that experienced in…so with that in mind I hit the 2-7 Triple Draw cash tables (.5/1) and crushed it, almost recouping my NL Hold’em losses for the day…let’s see how this plan works out…for now I’m outta here…
…as I’m not sure if I get around to posting again until the new year, I’m taking the chance to wish all of my loyal readers, fellow degenerates and poker broggers a very happy new year! May all your poker (and other) plans work out…cya on the other side…I’m all-out!

Yeah, today was a good day, so don’t let yourself be fooled by the first couple of screenshots below…they’re from the last few weeks…the later ones are from today. After buying the MicroStakes Edition of PokerTracker 3 (see my earlier post) I jumped into a 5 table SnG and owned it, finishing with a W and a smile on my face. After that I broke even in a few headsup matches and took my lazy ass to the couch to relax a little as there was another installment of the home game tonight.
I arrived at the home game and we sat down 9 handed playing our regular tourney (more than 6 players, so the money is split three ways, 50/30/20% of the price pool). I owned that too, coming back from being really short (5BB) to win it. After that we decided to play another one, 6 players including myself saddled up for a winner takes it all SnG. I was among the chipleaders most of the way, but once we got even shorter, 4 and then 3 players, I just couldn’t get a hand to hold up anymore. The really decisive hand was me in LP against the BB (?). Limped pot and we see a flop of 9Tx…I hold J7. Opponent bets out around 3BB. I decide to peel off a card and we see the turn. 8. Yatzee. My opponent goes all-in instantly and I snap-call showing the nuts. He’s really disappointed and his only hope is a J as he’s holding Q9. Dealer burns and turns….a J….three outs = 100%…yikes. Too bad. A few hands later I tangle with the same player again. I open-shove for 12BB and he calls. I show down AcQh, he shows KJ. 60/40…I’ll take it, if my hand holds up I’m back in contention. No such joy though as the dealer flops a King, turns a Jack and doesn’t peel off a ten on the river for me…so I bow out in 3rd place with 0. Oh well, at least he went on to win it, and btw he really deserved to win something…he’s been running like hell in the last few home-games…so ‘s all good. Enjoy the random pic dump and I’m outta here…
Praise where praise is due
After winning a satellite to the 2008 WCOOP, deciding not to play in a two day 530$ tourney after all and selling the W$ at a good price, I thought I’d do something that I hadn’t done in a long time – withdraw some dough. So I jump into PokerStars cashier and try to request a withdrawal…all good there…what isn’t good though is that the withdrawal option is somewhat limited: as I did some of my deposits via Neteller back in the day and getting money out to MasterCard isn’t an option the cashier window tells me that amount x will automatically go to my Neteller account and that I can redistribute the rest of the withdrawal to other options.
Not so good, after all I stopped using Neteller a while ago. But wait, the cashier window also tells me that I should get in touch with support if any of the withdrawal options was outdated (e.g. due to closing an account, e.g. Neteller). Okay, sounds good…so I contact support, they get back to me asking for confirmation that they should mark my Neteller account as outdated (and hence unusable in the future)…I tell them to do just that and I’m free to request a withdrawal to whichever other option they offer. So, I settle for the very convenient offer to transfer the dough via Direct Bank Transfer….and bingo four days later my bank account does the little ka-ching sound and the money is there. Now that’s what I call customer service. Now, I think it should be normal for the (paying) customer to have his/her money whenever, whereever he/she pleases, but we all know that’s not the norm – at least not with all the sites, not even the “major players”. So I can only applaud PokerStars for doing it’s name proud…praise where praise is due…
I’m out of here…no real new poker content here…had no time to play a single hand in the last few days and honestly didn’t feel the urge to play either…maybe I’ll get some playing time in during the week and/or this upcoming weekend…we’ll see….until then, gl at the tables everyone…
Rushing
Quite a nice feeling if you play in total peace…making all the right moves at the right times…and having most of your hands hold up. Noice. Played just a quickie tonight…four SnGs…four ITM…3rd 1st 2nd 1st…noice. I’m outta here…
Bodonkey tonight…
…no time and not in the mood to play these days, let’s just say that I have other stuff on my mind…I still got the time to pimp the hell out of tonight’s bodonkery though…can’t pimp it enough with the juicy T$600 overlay…enjoy and may the donk-force be with you…
Can I ask a favor?
Hello there all regular readers, especially my fellow poker broggers. I’m a sucker for gadgets and I was playing around with the thought of getting an iphone for a while now…
So, why don’t I buy one in germany?
1. It isn’t out yet.
2. Apple has an exclusive contract with T-Mobile, which (un)fortunately isn’t my provider. *wink* *wink*
3. I hate paying a shitload of extra cash to get one on ebay(.de)…
4. What can I say, the dollar is mighty weak these days 😉
So…would anyone be willing to help me out (get the iphone, package it up along with the receipt, send it with USPS (probably the cheapest way to get it over here))? If so, please comment using the email-address where I can reach you (won’t be displayed to the public) so that we can talk…
…and before anyone asks: Yes, I would send you the dough for the phone + shipping via paypal upfront…and for your troubles you’ll get something extra (either some dough on a poker site or something else…we’ll see…)…so…get into gear and help me…pretty please 🙂
