For the second day in a row I rivered quad twos…although this time I held pocket twos and it was over at Absolute Poker…groovy. Not so groovy that most of the play was rather dull and I came out of the session even…(up under 1BB).

quad twos again

I just played a little Stud H/L Limit S&G over at AbsolutePoker and what can I say – this is going to be the last one for quite a while. This was the first tournament of any sort that had me frustrated quickly…and not because of the cards that I was dealt. Let me explain: you sit at a one table S&G and play Stud H/L and one player at the table uses all the time he’s got on his hands all the time…so you’re basically sitting there waiting with each and every card that is being dealt – the other players weren’t too fast themselves which didn’t help either.

So I was trying to get out asap as after one hour of play we were heading nowhere and I’m right in the middle of it. This is the first and only time that I didn’t care if I won or not, I just wanted to get out asap, even if that meant taking last place – and this is what happened. I raised every card and busted myself with nothing in hand. So, I’m out of 2$+0.40$ fee, but more importantly I barely escaped with a sane mind and a few nerves less…

I guess a pic says more than thousand words…:

Ever felt that way?

Today was a really slow day due to the whole christmas thing, played a little casual Omaha H/L (0.10$/0.20$ Fixed and 0.25$/0.50$ fixed)…nothing went my way so I donked off some dollars, which I was able to get back (almost everything at least) in heads up play…

Regular play: Donkeys 1-0 Ingoal
Heads Up: Ingoal 1-0 Donkeys

🙂

Played three session of Pot Limit Omaha H/L today and was able to stay ahead in two of them finishing the day slightly up. Ever so slowly climbing back up the ladder… 🙂

Donkey is what donkey do…played 0.05$/0.10$ Pot Limit Omaha H/L and how unlucky can you be? Pushers at the table you look down at hands like K-K-3-5, Q-Q-3-6, 10-10-4-4, K-K-6-6 and none of it comes through (neither high nor low)….then you hold the best hand at the time, unless another player would hold A-2…and sure enough he does…two buy-in down the drain…

Nontheless I’ll continue to try my luck over next few days as I just reread the terms & conditions for the sign-up bonus (200%) and they’re quite horrible – maybe I should have read them before depositing…1 point awarded in each .50$ raked hand (yeah right, I would need to gamboool for MAJOR cash to even see such rakes) or for a 1$ tournament fee…and yes, 100 = 10$…argh!)…so my solution is easy: either I go broke at AbsolutePoker or I reach the withdrawal threshold (50$)… – seems that going broke is the more likely possibility though 🙁

After the ups and downs of today’s Omaha H/L play I decided to play a little S&G (9 players, 0.50$ + 0.10$ fee, top 3 in the money) over at AbsolutePoker and what can I say, I dominated the competition!

Look down at the first hand (5-5-Q-J) and watch as the board developed my way…up from 1500 starting chips to 4620 in the first hand…not a bad way to start a tournament:

1st hand - Click for bigger image

A few hands later I looked down at 2c-3h-5h-5c and once again the board developed beautifully, flop: Ac-4c-10d almost nuts already, turn: 2d, river: 3c for my first ever straight flush and the nuts/nuts, too. Yeah baby!

Double nuts: nut low and nut high...click for bigger image

Just played the really promising hands afterwards hence building up my stack to a massive chip lead (around 9000 of 13500 when hitting the money) – although I gotta say that most hands were promising for quite a while as I kept hitting full houses all over the place. When heads up started I was even further in front (9700 to 3600) played some donkey hands, but then was able to finish the deal and come out on top. Finally a S&G victory again! Nice

Another 7 Stud H/L tournament and another finish in the top 3 (of 7)…the best way to describe my playing: good. Just sitting around and waiting for good H+L hands to come around and at least taking down the low pot when I was in a hand…so no problem at all finishing in the top 3. Maybe I should have a look at the higher buy-ins (this one was 0.50$ + 0.10$ fee again).

So, I decided to try my luck with 7 stud H/L on absolute poker and couldn’t get my feet on the ground here either. Played on a 0.10$/0.25$ table with a 0.01$ ante and could only scoop one pot before donkeying off my stack (2$) again…back to the drawing board…

Absolute Poker New Depositors Main Event

Side note: I had such a lovely post written up just to see Firefox crash on me…note to self: save as draft next time…

Today was the Absolute Poker New Depositors Main Event for which I qualified earlier this week (see this post). The tournament started out on a bad note as I was seated at a rather dead table. So it was nearly impossible to get chips early on. It took the Absolute Poker system a while to kick in, but then all players not present were automatically busted (they were set to autofold prior to that). That left me at a table with 2 other active players and hence not a chance to get many chips either – this was kind of unfair as there was a good portion of small tables (2-3 ppl just like my table) and a good portion of full tables. It took the system another few minutes to finally balance the field again.

I found myself at a good table with really cool players. Three were especially nice and made the tournament fun to play in! Ashlips22, DrSkillz and JJSproull (aka the man that was immortal surviving short-stacked all-ins time and time again). We had a really nice and fun time and cheered each other on when it came to the bubble. Unfortunately I was short-stacked so I had to make a move sooner or later (with blinds hitting 500 and my chip count stuck at around 1400), I had two to three decent hands in a row (A-Q, J-J, Q-Q) and was able to get some blinds back, but it didn’t get me far…so I had to make a decision: go all-in with J-J or wait for a better hand (in the next 6-7 hands) – I went All-In, but was a little bit unlucky as my pocket Jacks were crushed by an A-5 when another A hit the flop…too bad…out in 91st place 🙁

Nontheless it was really fun to play this tournament as I got to know new players (as mentioned above) and had a really good time…at least they all finished in the money and it didn’t cost me a dime to play, so who am I to complain…I’m really looking forward to play with these guys again…

Stats:

  • Players entered: 1248
  • Starting chip count: 1500
  • Top 63 payed – 3000$
  • 1-11: 75$
  • 12-28: 60$
  • 29-35: 45$
  • 36-63: 30$
  • Ingoal’s finish: 91st
  • Ashlips22: 19th – 60$
  • DrSkillz: 40th – 30$
  • JJSproull: 53rd – 30$

Another day another 7 Stud H/L S&G over at Absolute Poker. Went out and could do no wrong in the beginning to take an early chip lead, bounce up and down (once even to under 1k in chips before reclaiming the chip lead with a nice full house) and saw players bust out left and right. Was in the money, watched the 2nd in chips bust out the 3rd in chips – went into heads up with 1:2 in chips…battle back and forth for a dozen hands, but couldn’t scoop…so out in 2nd place, nontheless satisfied: 3 tournaments played, 3 times in the money (3rd, 2nd, 2nd). Nice 🙂
